Moss In The Trees

There are stars
In the Southern sky
Southward as you go
There is moonlight
And moss in the trees
Down the Seven Bridges Road ~ The Eagles

While I know this song was written about a road in Alabama, it makes me think of Savannah, Georgia.  Savannah is one of the most romantic cities in America, I do believe.  With its southern charm, the city graces us with ancient, magestic live oaks drapped in blankets of "spanish moss".  Cobblestone streets, aged brick, wrought iron and gently lit lamp post create a glowing feel of old world romance.  Breathtakingly, it sweeps you off your feet into a fairytale land where "dreams do come true" in a southern, swanky, mystical kind of way.

In our delving into all things "spring" for weddings, the beautiful landscape of outdoor space had to be explored.  Savannah is perfect!  This mysterious, sultry area holds charming old chapels nestled among the magnificent live oaks, formal English gardens, sunrise or sunset beach surf, rose gardens,  cozy victorian gazbos and plush carpets of green grass in historic parks.

Come explore with us....the mysteries and romance of Savannah and spring weddings!  A picture is worth 1000 words!

We surely have much to explore concerning spring weddings in Savannah!  Come back soon as we continue down the cobblestone streets discovering magical places!

Engagement Photo Shoot!

Spring has Sprung!

Let us run with wild abandon and laugh in the breeze!

Spring!  Spring fever is happening all over the south!  We joke about it...about spring fever, but it is a physiological and psychological shift in the body's response to changing seasons.  It is obvious when spring fever hits; we see it in others and feel it too!  We become restless and excited.  Sometimes the high-energy spurts create insomni and a loss of appetite as we find ourselves taken with a yearning desire to do something wild, crazy and find love!

Is it any wonder why spring is the most popular season for weddings?

Outside of the sheer "lovin' feeling" of spring, it gives a Bride so many options for all aspects of her wedding!  Outdoor venues become available and more appealing and color is everywhere!

We are about to embark on exploring the endless possibilities of spring weddings!  We hope you join us.

Valentine's Theme Wedding?

Are you having a Valentine's Day Wedding or a Valentine's Day Theme?  Valentine's day is emblematic for romance and love. Planning your wedding on this amorous day or themed around this day just shows one main thing, you are a romantic.

Valentines Day or a Valentines Day theme is all about expressing love.  It makes for a wonderful wedding day and as equally awesome and memorable anniversary.  One benefit of choosing this day or theme is the ability to be extremely creative without becoming too cliche.  You can also make your guest feel very important much easier by using this day or theme.  Be sure to follow some simple guidelines to keep the ceremony an exquisite experience for everyone.   Below you will find a few tips to help make this happen for you.

1.  Tailor the Theme to Your Personal Taste.

Once you have decided if you are going to go with Paris romance, vintage romance or whimsical (just to name a few) you can begin the real fun!  What "theme" fits you and your soon to be spouse?  Are you roses and candies or bicycles and picnic baskets, for example?  Once this is decided it will help you determine your colors.  A vintage romance wedding might choose pale pinks and antique whites where as a Paris theme might be hot pink and black.

2.  Save the Date Notes

This can be a very fun part of the event planning. Save the Date notes can be created very easily and by hand because there is such an array of Valentine oriented items available. Visit your local craft stores and scrapbooking sections and you will find an abundance of items you can use. From whimsical to pure romance, you will find a vast array.  In fact, making this trip can really help you determine your theme in step one.

3.  Find a Fitting Venue

Find the venue to fit your theme.  Are you beach front, a stroll in the park or old world vintage love?

4.  Seating For Love Birds and Cupids Arrow

When deciding upon your seating arrangements consider the status of those attending.  Make sure to give ample opportunity for those in love to share loving moments and build new memories but likewise make sure those single friends and family have ample opportunity to socialize and stand in front of cupids' arrow!

5.  The Drink of Love

Decide upon what drinks to serve based on a little research.  What types of drinks are created with ingredients known to give a feeling of peace, serenity and love?  It is true, you know!  Some foods really do create such feelings.  But you might want to take it easy on the pure aphrodisiacs!

6.  Mr. DJ Play That Love Song

Be sure to prepare a list of your most favorite love songs!  You can run this with your theme helping to create a feel.  If your theme is vintage romance come up with a list of old love songs, for example.  You can always create discs as guest gifts in rememberance of your day including a great photo representing the day printed right on the disc itself.

Lastly, come up with great ideas to give opportunity for current couples to share and show their love for one another.  You can attach these ideas to a charming tree for guest to pick off as they enter or you can come up with just a few concepts and leave at their seating area or have servers bring around throughout the night.  For example, you may leave a small notepad and pencil at the seating area with small instructions on writing a quick "love you" message to their partner.  Get creative!

We would love to have your feedback about your Valentine Day or Valentine Themed Wedding!

Diamonds, Crystals or Ice?

In our last post, we discussed a winter themed wedding called "ice".  Winter themed or not, using crystals as diamonds or "ice" create a classy romantic setting for the perfect wedding!  Everything seems to dance in the sparkling light of crystals, reflecting the way your heart feels on your special day.

What brings us back to this "theme"?  While browsing vendors we came across some beautiful pictures of a wedding in Savannah, Georgia.  While we placed a crystal tree in our last post, this florist took the crystal tree to a new level that is absolutely beautiful!

Winter Weddings

While it seems most people prefer summer weddings, here in Georgia it is a bit HOT!  I don't believe any beautiful bride wants to be glistening with sweat on their wedding day.  Spring, fall and maybe even a winter wedding would fit the bill rather than the hot, humid days of summer in the south.

There is an amazing amount of themes a couple can use for their winter wedding but "ICE" is a great one!  Why?  Well ice is typically associated with winter but ice is also a word used to refer to DIAMONDS!

"Real diamonds are able to conduct heat and are actually one of the best conductors of heat. Even as a diamond heats up, it is cool to the touch, much like ice. Once this ability was discovered, diamonds were quickly identified as “ice” and heat conductivity quickly began a way to determine whether or not a diamond was real.  What this means is that the diamond is not naturally at a lower temperature, but that they pull the heat away from the other objects. Therefore, if you touch the diamond to something hot, it will extract or absorb the heat and disperse it within the diamond. One test that an individual can conduct is to touch their diamond to their body and see if it feels cool. If you are looking for an easy area to make the determination, your face or lips is often of the easiest place to conduct the test.
Although the diamond initially feels warm as you put it to your lips, you will quickly notice that the diamond will feel as cold as ice. This ice-cold feeling is caused not because of the lower temperature in the diamond, but because the diamonds take the heat from your lips. No matter how big or small your diamond is this reaction will occur. However, for smaller diamonds, it may take them longer before you feel the coolness. Still, it does not matter how many times you conduct this test with your diamonds, the results will be the same". ~ Abazias Diamonds

Diamonds are a girls bestfriend, right! Maybe, maybe not but since diamonds are normally associated with weddings in the form of a wedding ring why not expand this to an ICE theme wedding?

Did you have an ice themed (or diamond) wedding?  Tell us about it, share some pictures!  We can't wait!
